Torn Apart by History - Cigdem Aslan

The world of two once-integrated communities was torn apart by the violent events of history, as conjured up in Louis de Berniere's novel Birds Without Wings. Istanbul-born singer Cigdem Aslan presents a musical programme in both Greek and Turkish, bringing an authentic voice and exquisite styling to poignant songs associated with both countries in the 1920s. The music is a way in which two famously divided peoples are rediscovering their common history and culture.
