Heritage Open Days at South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade Watch House
Heritage Open Day: The historic Watch House is the headquarters of the South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade, a coastal rescue unit, which was formed in 1866. The building houses a collection of records, paintings, photographs, equipment and artefacts relating to the many shipwrecks and rescues which the Brigade have attended over the years. The Brigade is still fully operational today in its coastal search and rescue role.
