Seasonal Home Cooking ----26 February 2012 10.00 - 14.00

The first in our series of practical workshops on seasonal home cookery. Cooking how it used to be - responding to available resources in season. Learn some of the traditional skills we seem to have lost. Winter is still with us at this time of the year so we will be cooking some good winter warming and satisfying dishes. Comforting Pea and ham soup using dried peas that were used traditionally during winter with the peas dried during the summer months., then we will make a delicious cottage pie incorporating seasonal vegetables and topped with swede and potato mash and toasted with Wenslydale cheese. For pudding we will be making a family favourite of steamed sponge pudding. All ingredients and recipes are provided on this class.
