Stanley Ferry Workshop Public Open Day

This is a Past Event and has been Archived.

Visitors will be able to take a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the historic lock gate workshops on the Aire & Calder Navigation for the second time, following an extremely popular first year. So, if you missed out here’s your second chance to check out the impressive woodworking workshop where thousands of lock gates have been put together over the years. Stanley Ferry Workshop, near Wakefield, is one of the hubs of the nation's waterways, the place where lock gates are carefully refurbished and new ones crafted. Inside its doors over 70 lock gates are built every year which are then taken and used across the county on the nation’s network of canals.

Free entry. Event runs between 9am - 3pm.

Every event on WhereCanWeGo has been added by the organisers themselves, so you get a really good feel for what events are about.
If you're organising a public event, you can promote it for FREE by registering here ~ it works so well.
Don't take our word. See what our organisers say:
"We used it to promote a one day open day and it turned out to be the most effective way of getting visitors; slightly over 1/3 rd came through your site, 1/3 from posters and flyers and rather less than 1/3 from the £1,000 of local press ads we paid for!." - The Midland Gliding Cub.
"Our family fun day this year was the best ever and a great deal of that success was from a mention on WhereCanWeGo.com. We will definitely be using it for all future events." - Lee Mill Community Association.
