Is there more to their sparring than meets the eye£ Is theirs a match made in heaven£ Berlioz’s final opera adapts Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing focussing on the relationship between one of the most famously quarrelsome couples in western art. The result is a delicious comic opera filled with charming music. It is as warm-hearted as a Mediterranean evening. Welsh National Opera’s much-loved Beatrice & Benedict is performed for the first time in a decade. The cast includes Sara Fulgoni and Donald Maxwell making their eagerly anticipated returns to the company.
