Premiere of Shobana Jeyasingh’s new work Classic Cut

This is a Past Event and has been Archived.

Leading choreographer Shobana Jeyasingh will premiere her new work, Classic Cut, at The Point. The intriguing new show features two pieces, one revisiting the past, the other stepping into a bold new era. The first piece sees Jeyasingh revisiting Configurations, a dance she created in 1989. Ground-breaking at the time for its use of music – Jeyasingh commissioned composer Michael Nyman to create a new score, String Quartet No. 2 – Configurations fuses traditional dance forms such as ballet and Bharata Natyam with contemporary movement to produce an intricate, fast-paced performance. Alongside this, Jeyasingh presents an untitled new work that draws on the colourful theatrical genre of classical Indian dance.

Classic Cut takes place on Thursday, February 23, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 (£10conc). For more details, call the box office on 023 8065 2333 or visit www.thepointeastleigh.co.uk

Every event on WhereCanWeGo has been added by the organisers themselves, so you get a really good feel for what events are about.
If you're organising a public event, you can promote it for FREE by registering here ~ it works so well.
Don't take our word. See what our organisers say:
"We used it to promote a one day open day and it turned out to be the most effective way of getting visitors; slightly over 1/3 rd came through your site, 1/3 from posters and flyers and rather less than 1/3 from the £1,000 of local press ads we paid for!." - The Midland Gliding Cub.
"Our event was a success due in no small part to your inclusion of it and the fact that yours was the first entry in an internet search for the title of the exhibition. The days of chasing after printed media coverage are over. Where Can We Go gave us excellent coverage and and we would be happy to recommend your service to organisations large and small." - Jock, Herald Events.
