Ryburn Moving On Workshop - Song workshop with SARAH GREY

This is a Past Event and has been Archived.

Scots and Ulster Scots have emigrated in such numbers that no other European Nation has ever lost such a high proportion of it’s people. In the early days these were men and women who left behind them a homeland rich in the oral tradition of song and ballad singing; an inheritance which they carried with them wherever they went. Their legacy is apparent to this day. Sara will trace the migration of songs from Northern Ireland and Scotland to North America by singing a song, or part of it, from its Celtic source and then singing the American or Canadian version showing the changes and the similarities. The workshop is interactive and informal and the participants are encouraged to sing on choruses and refrains, and ask any relevant questions.

10am to 12noon then 2pm to 4pm. £25 (£18) Telephone 01422 822413 to reserve a place.

The Shop, 103, Oldham Rd, Ripponden West Yorkshire HX6 4EB

Don't take our word. See what our organisers say:
"We used it to promote a one day open day and it turned out to be the most effective way of getting visitors; slightly over 1/3 rd came through your site, 1/3 from posters and flyers and rather less than 1/3 from the £1,000 of local press ads we paid for!." - The Midland Gliding Cub.
"One of our homes had a Red Cross Open day recently and 30% of the visitors had seen the event listed on your site" - Wellburn.
