Playing Games

This is a Past Event and has been Archived.

Do you remember sandcastles, playground games and skipping rhymes; scraped knees and bedtime stories? Memories of childhood is the theme of the latest contemporary art exhibition at The Point, Playing Games. Chosen for their playfulness, each piece in the exhibition aims to encourage the viewer to see the world through the eyes of children, to remind them of their own early years’ experiences. Artists featured include Salisbury-based Henny Burnett, whose work in the exhibition is based on extracts from a child’s hand-written World War Two journal and exercise book; Dundee-based illustrator Lindsey Gardiner whose hand-drawn pieces are influenced by all things playful; Swedish artist Lisa Pattersson whose latest work centres around memories and nostalgia.

Playing Games runs from January 14 to April 29 as part of The Point’s Watch This Space contemporary art programme at The Point in Eastleigh. Entry is free. For more details, visit www.thepointeastleigh.co.uk or www.creativeeastleigh.co.uk

Every event on WhereCanWeGo has been added by the organisers themselves, so you get a really good feel for what events are about.
If you're organising a public event, you can promote it for FREE by registering here ~ it works so well.
Don't take our word. See what our organisers say:
"We had an excellent response from our posting on WhereCanWeGo.com, and it was responsible for drawing folk from a wide area to our event; we recommend you as being the most effective form of publicity around." - Barbara , Village Celebration Food & Crafts Fairs.
"Our event was a success due in no small part to your inclusion of it and the fact that yours was the first entry in an internet search for the title of the exhibition. The days of chasing after printed media coverage are over. Where Can We Go gave us excellent coverage and and we would be happy to recommend your service to organisations large and small." - Jock, Herald Events.
