True Grit (Cert 15 ) Starring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Hailee Steinfeld. This is not the famous 1969 film of True Grit starring John Wayne, but Joel and Ethan Coen's adaptation of the original novel and it sticks more closely to the source material than Wayne’s version. Once again it tells the story of how the fourteen year old Mattie Ross searches for a man with ‘true grit’ to help her find the man who killed her father - but this time it is told from her perspective. Rooster Cogburn is still a one-eyed trigger happy US Marshall with an affinity for drink, and Jeff Bridge’s magnificent performance easily stands comparison with John Wayne’s iconic original. We think this version is every bit as good as the original, but don't take our word for it, come along and see for yourself!
