Dickens Birthday Celebration Ball

This is a Past Event and has been Archived.

Dickens Grand Ball If you are missing Strictly and Great Expectations leaves you wanting more, why not celebrate a birthday in style and attend our ball. The Groundings Theatre is the very place where Charles Dickens’ story begins, as Elizabeth Dickens went into labour with her famous son whilst attending a dance the evening before. Break out your ballgowns, iron your cravats and join us in a unique recreation of the 1812 ball on Monday 6th February. Our evening of dance and celebrations features the Regency Dancers and musicians. With help on hand to glide you around the dance floor, come alone or with a partner and let the dances of the day take you back in style. Unsure what to wear? Groundlings has an extensive wardrobe collection from which you can hire your outfits.

From 8pm, tickets cost £12, £10 concessions £10 costume hire (optional) The Old Benny is also serving up a two course meal for £9.50 in our downstairs tavern prior to the ball from 5.30pm. Ball, costume hire and meal deal: £28, £25 concession Booking is advisable, 023 92737370

Every event on WhereCanWeGo has been added by the organisers themselves, so you get a really good feel for what events are about.
If you're organising a public event, you can promote it for FREE by registering here ~ it works so well.
Don't take our word. See what our organisers say:
"We used it to promote a one day open day and it turned out to be the most effective way of getting visitors; slightly over 1/3 rd came through your site, 1/3 from posters and flyers and rather less than 1/3 from the £1,000 of local press ads we paid for!." - The Midland Gliding Cub.
"Our event was a success due in no small part to your inclusion of it and the fact that yours was the first entry in an internet search for the title of the exhibition. The days of chasing after printed media coverage are over. Where Can We Go gave us excellent coverage and and we would be happy to recommend your service to organisations large and small." - Jock, Herald Events.
