This is a Past Event and has been Archived.

Scrap Artists, Poet and Writer, Martiens Bekker will be exhibiting at the Victoria House Cafe in Port Isaac as from 13 February to 13 March 2012. Calling it the 'The Recession Session', Martiens hope to bring a smile to the visitor, but also make people aware of the 'waste culture' we tend to live in! Martiens uses scrap materials such as metal and wood to create all sort of sculptural figures. Port Isaac had been inspiring him to create a lot of sea creatures, but visitors will see some of his more practical in use at by the Cafe. If you cannot afford a work of art then you might rather purchase his book Scrap Art and Silly Poetry (I and or II) featuring some of his works accompanied by poetry relevant to each piece.

This event is for the whole family and dogs are welcome although space is limited. Book prices are £9.90 and his art average between £12 and &150. The Cafe will be open between 11:00 and 20:00 everyday of the week. Entrance free and Cafe menu reasonably affordable.

Sculptures created from mainly old pieces of metal and wood by Martiens Bekker. His work can at times be sad and emotional, but is most of the time funny and humorous. His work can at times be quite large, but there is always something smaller that would fit in that special place at home or the office! Martiens will also show some of his more practical works such as furniture made from recycled..

Every event on WhereCanWeGo has been added by the organisers themselves, so you get a really good feel for what events are about.
If you're organising a public event, you can promote it for FREE by registering here ~ it works so well.
Don't take our word. See what our organisers say:
"Our event was a success due in no small part to your inclusion of it and the fact that yours was the first entry in an internet search for the title of the exhibition. The days of chasing after printed media coverage are over. Where Can We Go gave us excellent coverage and and we would be happy to recommend your service to organisations large and small." - Jock, Herald Events.
"One of our homes had a Red Cross Open day recently and 30% of the visitors had seen the event listed on your site" - Wellburn.
