Set in Marlborough House, the residence of George V’s widow Queen Mary, between 1936 and 1945, this powerful play focuses on the private family drama of Edward VIII and members of the Royal Family when he announces that he cannot give up Wallis Simpson, but must marry her and if necessary give up the throne. It is an engrossing and moving study of both a major constitutional crisis and an overwhelming issue of private and public conflict
