St Michael the Archangel, Well

Heritage Open Day: Built by Sir Ralph Neville between 1320 and 1350, St Michael is essentially a memorial to one of the great feudal families of northern England. Replacing a much earlier church, mentioned in the Domesday Book, the present building contains many fine memorials to the Neville and Millbank families, including the tomb of Sir John Neville (d1596). Other notable features include one of the earliest font covers in Britain and a section of Roman Mosaic pavement.
