Heritage Open Day: St Oswald's Hauxwell is an ancient church on an even more ancient site. Church has Norman features and is situated in a stunning location below this small and little-altered village away from the tourist route. It is famous as the birthplace of Sister Dora Pattison, founder of the civilian nursing service who is commemorated in this church of which her father was Rector.
