The Beat Legendary 2-Tone Punk Ska Reggae Group led by vocalist Ranking Roger.
The Beat formed in 1978 and originally featured Ranking Roger, Dave Wakeling, Andy Cox, David Steele, Everett Morton & Saxa.
The Beat's first single was the infectious cover of Smokey Robinson's ‘Tears of A Clown' b/w "Ranking Full Stop" ( 2 Tone ) which on release went straight into the National Top 10 at No.6.
