Deep Roots - The Boyds
The Boyds, Lords of Kilmarnock and residents of Dean Castle from the 1300’s to the 1700’s, were one of the most powerful and influential families in Scottish history. They played their part in many of the most famous episodes of the time, including the Battle of Largs, the Scottish Wars of Independence, and the Jacobite Rebellion, and even became the Regents of Scotland for the young James III, and had direct links to key players such as Mary, Queen of Scots, Robert the Bruce and ‘Bonnie’ Prince
