Cirencester and the Civil War

A Town Walk with William Cooper

The momentous events of the first week of February in 1643 were to greatly influence the lives of local citizens for the next two and a half years. Hundreds lost their lives and property. Join William Cooper from the Civic Society to explore Cirencester, a town which King Charles I found too attractive to ignore. William will describe the lead up to and course of military action and the efforts of the towns people to defend themselves against Royalist attack.
