A Walk along Luton Road. An illustrated talk by Brian Joyce.

The village of Luton was originally linked to Chatham by what is now called Upper Luton Road. However, in the nineteenth century, Luton Lane lying further down in the valley was surfaced, widened and transformed into Luton Road. This became the new main link between village and town.
In his presentation, Brian Joyce will take us along the length of Luton Road from the Hen and Chickens public house in the village to the iconic Luton railway arches which mark the boundary between the expanded “Lu
