Family History Talk: What's In The Parish Chest ?
Richard Ratcliffe looks at the wide variety of records which used to be kept in the Parish Chest from the 15th century to the early 20th. These include Vestry Minute Books, Churchwardens' Accounts and Poor Law records dealing with Settlement, Removal and Bastardy. In other words a veritable cornucopia of records to put flesh on the bones of your ancestors!
