The Great War Remembered (Flower Festival 2014)
The Great War Remembered is the theme for this year’s Flower Festival in St Giles’ church, Leigh on Mendip. The magnificent 15th century church – “the Jewel of the Mendips” – towers above the village and during the August Bank Holiday will host the village’s tribute to those who lived and died during the First World War.
A highlight of the festival is a concert in the church at 7.30pm on Saturday 23rd. This will feature works by composers who lived (and in some cases fought) through the war
