Hugh Broughton, a leading designer of polar research facilities, talks about the first fully re-locatable science research base built in a cold region - the space-age Halley VI Station designed for the British Antarctic Survey. Located on a freezing floating ice shelf, Halley VI has to withstand an extreme climate and provide a home to scientists isolated from the rest of the world for up to nine months.
