Locked Up - Heritage Open Day

Explore Ripon’s three museums free of charge as part of the Heritage Open Day Festival. This year’s theme is ‘LOCKED UP”: explore what it meant to be shut in behind the high walls and bars of Ripon’s infamous institutions. Visit the Prison & Police Museum to see how Ripon policing has changed through time and then get face to face with some gruesome historic punishments. Discover the Courthouse Museum where convicts would have been found guilty and awaited their sentence and visit the Workhouse
