Israel in Egypt (HWV 54) is a biblical oratorio by George Frideric Handel with libretto by Charles Jennens, (who also compiled the Biblical texts for Handel's Messiah). It is composed of selected passages from Exodus and the Psalms, and tells the story of the exile of the Israelites in Egypt and their return to the promised land. H
