Bowes village -  Dickens, Edwin and Emma, and our role in World War 1

Heritage Open Day: A display of photos and information on the role of Bowes village in history. The exhibition centres on Bowes' two historic claims to fame: being the 'delightful village of Dotheboys' in Dickens' 'Nicholas Nickleby'; and the location of the action in David Mallet's ballad 'Edwin and Emma', published 1760. There will also be guided walks round the village, covering the places mentioned in both of these, culminating in
