St Joseph's RC Church, Birtley

Heritage Open Day: This beautiful church, including numerous stained glass windows, was built in 1843 and designed by John Dobson in Early English Gothic style. A brief history of the church will be available, together with copies of old marriage and death registers. A 'First World War Centenary' exhibition will focus on the 47 men listed on the church's War Memorial plaques.
