Calgarth Park
Heritage Open Day: Calgarth Park is a Grade II listed Georgian mansion built in 1790 by Richard Watson, Bishop of Llandaff. Set in lovely parkland and with views of Lake Windermere, the house was frequently visited by Wordsworth and Southey. It ceased being a gentleman's residence in 1916 when it was transformed into a hospital for WWI Belgian and British casualties.
