Winchelsea Court Hall & Museum

Heritage Open Day: The Court Hall is a medieval building housing the Town Museum on its upper floor. In the Museum the 'Winchelsea Story' is retold starting with the Old Port of Winchelsea (destroyed by storms in 13thC) and the founding of the new built Town in 1288 by King Edward 1. The story continues through the centuries from the medieval days of a bustling town through the centuries and its fascinating historical progress to modern times and its continuing place as a Head Port
