Sandford Mill Open Day
Heritage Open Day: Sandford Mill is the former Borough Waterworks for Chelmsford with a red brick 1920s Engine Pumping building and a 1950s Chemical Filter Building (no access to this). There is very little to see of the original Mill itself apart from the exterior of two brick cottages. Since the waterworks closed, there are lovely natural habitats being re-colonised, and the old millpond and weir (still controlled by the Environment Agency) is impressive.
