Huguenot and Walloon Chapel

Heritage Open Day: When Queen Elizabeth agreed to accept a group of Walloon refugees in Canterbury she gave them St Alphege's Church in which to worship. After a year this proved too small, so she and the Dean and Chapter allowed them to move into the Cathedral Western Crypt, which at that time was used for the storage of wood and coal. Since then there has always been an independent refugee Calvinist church in the crypt, which worships every Sunday at 1500 in French.
Fri 12 Sep:1100-1200. Free Entry. For more information and last-minute updates, please visit the Heritage Open Days website
