Katherine Bruce Glasier Memorial Hostel
Heritage Open Day: Glen Cottage was the home of Katherine Bruce Glasier for nearly 30 years. Katherine Bruce Glasier was a founder member of the Independent Labour Party and Social Reformer. Following her death in 1950 a fund was set up to raise money for a permanent memorial. The proceeds were used to purchase her house and neighbouring properties and convert them into a Youth Hostel, which was donated to the Youth Hostel Association in her memory.
