St Mary's Church, Knowsley Village

Heritage Open Day: The church was built in 1844 by the 13th Earl of Derby and contains many stained glass windows about the Derby family, with a chapel for use of the Earl and his family. The chapel is dominated by an alabaster tomb of the 14th Earl who was a Prime Minister of Great Britain. There is also a magnificent mosaic, which is 99 years old this September and has a special mention in P. Fleetwood-Hesketh's book on buildings in Lancashire.
