“We all make it again”: Ancient Landscapes, Modern Art

An illustrated talk by Michael Bird. Peter Lanyon, Sandra Blow, Richard Long – why was the landscape so important for British artists in the urban 20th century? Focusing on the story of art in Cornwall after the second world war, Michael Bird explores modern artists’ continuing fascination with the West Country’s ancient landscapes. Michael has written many books and essays on art, including The St Ives Artists: A Biography of Place and Time, Art in Cornwall and 100 Ideas that Changed Art.
