Friends lunchtime lecture: Saved for the Nation: The amazing Achievements of the Art Fund
Why did one of the richest nations in the world have to rely on charity to save works of art? Anthony Pugh-Thomas, a long standing member of The Art Fund, addresses this question and explains how the Art Fund has been able to do so. He will illustrate his talk with some of the works saved since its foundation in 1903. He will also cover the prizes it offers to museums, such as the Museum of the Year Prize won by RAMM in 2012.
