I am an African woman and I am a soldier: Integrating Rwandan women into UN peacekeeping missions

A public lecture by Dr Georgina Holmes, Lecturer in International Relations, University of Portsmouth. Since the acknowledgement of the specific impact of conflict on women and girls in 2000, the UN is calling for contributing countries to increase the percentage of military and police women in UN peacekeeping operations. Although Rwanda experienced genocide and war some twenty years ago, it is now the sixth largest contributor of peacekeepers in the world and has over 100 female peacekeepers in
6pm start, followed by a drinks reception at 7pm. Free entry.
