Since the acknowledgement of the specific impact of conflict on women and girls in 2000, the UN is calling for contributing countries to increase the percentage of military and police women in UN peacekeeping operations. Although Rwanda experienced genocide and war some twenty years ago, it is now the sixth largest contributor of peacekeepers in the world and has over 100 female peacekeepers in
