The Music of the Spheres: Listening to the Universe with Gravitational Waves
A public lecture by Prof Bernard Schutz, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute). After decades of development, scientists are only a few years away from beginning to listen directly to waves of gravity that are sent through the Universe by some of its most exotic objects: black holes, neutron stars, cosmic strings, and even the Big Bang itself. Using film, sound, and demonstrations, the talk will explain how scientists will detect these weakest
