Black Plays - Black Woman Time
This session examines the development of black women playwrights and black theatre companies with a gender specific remit. The 1980s saw a steady increase in the number of plays written and produced by black and Asian women writers and the growth of Black Theatre was accompanied by a wider movement in the art world which marked the arrival of radical young black female artists, determined to challenge their absence from the mainstream. With guest speaker Adjoa Andoh. Plays covered: Money to Live
