Expressions of the Oxford Landscape
Miranda Stewart’s work is inspired by the Oxfordshire landscape. The paintings are personal expressions of the views from Port Meadow and other rural perspectives surrounding Oxford. In many of the paintings, the forms and compositions are consciously ambiguous and unspecified, inviting the viewer to imagine their own narrative. The technique combines quick brushstrokes with layers of paint to produce semi-abstract images that may – or may not – represent trees, water and the city skyline. Using
