The Black Book of Carmarthen: Minding the gaps
One of the most important manuscripts to pass through the hands of Sir John Prise was the Black Book of Carmarthen (Peniarth MS 1), the oldest surviving manuscript of Welsh verse. Since that time the contents have attracted the attention of scholars, but the time is ripe for a re-assessment of the manuscript itself, particularly in the light of recent technological advances. This lecture considers some under-studied aspects of the manuscript. Free admission by ticket Un o’r llawysgrifau pwysic
