The Paths and Old Roads, Watering Holes for Man and Beast

In this talk to Buckinghamshire Family History Society, Bruce Smith discusses the unusual subject of local drove roads. Droving started as soon as man began to own livestock. Most disappeared with the coming of the railways but drovers were still needed to accompany beasts on the journey and to the market. Bruce will show us the paths and roads, watering holes and resting places used by man and beast, and tell us something of the drovers’ lives.
2pm. Free; non-members of Buckinghamshire Family History Society are very welcome; a small donation will be appreciated.
