‘The Recent History of The Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation’ by Roy Chandler, Director of Essex Waterways Limited.
Roy will describe the history of this important waterway which paved the way for the industrialisation of Chelmsford and surroundings, and particularly the last 40 years since the Inland Waterways Association became involved. Essex Waterways took responsibility for the Navigation in 2005 and saved it from closure, and Roy will describe its ongoing operation and restoration.
