A brief history of Sacrewell Watermill

Discover the long-standing history of this soon-to-be centre of milling excellence.

Sacrewell’s Grade II* watermill, built in 1755, was quite possibly the site of a Roman watermill, as Roman archaeology, including millstones, have been discovered nearby. There is also mention in the Domesday Book of three watermills in the Wittering area, with Sacrewell quite possibly being one of the three. The William Scott Abbott Trust own Sacrewell and they
