British Archaeology - Industrial archaeology of the Lumsdale Valley

Recently scheduled an ancient monument by English Heritage, The Lumsdale Valley is widely recognised as one of the top six most important water powered industrial archaeological sites in the UK. Since at least the 16th century the brook has provided water power for a series of mills built in the valley, some of which continued in industrial use until the 1930s. Discover more about the archaeology of Lumsdale through this fascinating talk by Julian Burgess, Chair of the Arkwright Society’s Lums
