British Archaeology - 1000 years of Long Bredy
For a long time the village of Long Bredy, Dorset, was divided between two large estates, the Duchy of Cornwall and, ultimately, the Dukes of Bedford. The two estates terated their housing stock differently, the Bedfords rebuilding theirs on a different footprint. There are also large gaps where houses are known or are presumed to have stood.
