The Golden Age of
Cinema
Martin Humphries, Director of The Cinema Museum, will
give an illustrated talk on the ‘Golden Age’ of cinema which is generally held to be from 1929 to 1959 when the Hollywood studio system was at its height. Hollywood studios were making many films that have stood the test of time and are still being screened and enjoyed today. There was a studio hierarchy with MGM, Paramount, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox and RKO in the top tier. In 1939 alone the following films were released: The Wizard
