Ukrainian Folk Art Exhibition

Join us for the Ukrainian Folk Art Exhibition showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Ukraine! The event lets you immerse yourself in the vibrant colours and intricate designs of traditional Ukrainian crafts.

Displays include embroidered decorative items, traditional costumes, beadwork jewellery, woodwork, Petrykivka art, Pysanky (decorated Easter eggs) and wooden crafts that originate from pagan times. A range of folk art is displayed from specialist sewing, weaving and embroidery to leather work.

Learn about the swirling floral motifs and vibrant colours of Petrykivka painting whose intricate decoration reflects the beauty of the Ukrainian landscape and the art gained addition to the Representative List of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Different wood pieces are displayed from the Carpathian mountains, where Hutsul highlanders are known for making household items from local sycamore, maple, pear, apple, alder, yew, cedar, walnut, and oak.

Woven towels, rugs, tablecloths and shirts are decorated with embroidered symbolic patterns. Ukraine’s distinctive embroidered Vyshyvanka shirts and ritual cloths Rushnyky are used in ceremonial events, weddings etc and will be shown alongside various Pysanky.

This unique public exhibition plays a powerful part in introducing visitors to the country’s cultural heritage and tells many stories about Ukraines varied regions. It is a rare opportunity to experience the beauty and craftsmanship of Ukrainian folk art up close.
