Oldland Windmill Special Event Day

Oldland windmill is to be turned into a steam-driven time-machine for the day in a unique experiment designed to show how millers once defied the wind and kept their grinding stones turning on calm days. An eleven-ton monster steam engine, Jess, built by Marshall Traction Engines in 1908 will be travelling to Oldland Windmill and coupled to the beautifully-restored building. The firebox will be stoked, and in a flurry of steam the engine will take over the work of the sweeps as corn is ground in
The windmill and steam engine will be open between 11am and 4pm on Sunday July 5th and will be grinding flour at intervals throughout the day. In between times, visitors can tour the mill. A barbecue
