Dorking's musical and literary heritage: a guided walk in the town centre.
For Heritage Open Days, a guided walk through the town
centre and backstreets of Dorking, visiting sites connected with the writers and composers who have lived and worked in the town, or based their work on the town. Amongst others the walk will visit sites connected with Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Daniel Defoe, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, George Meredith and Benjamin Disraeli as well as the birthplace of Laurence Olivier.
