St John the Baptist's Church, Chester

Heritage Open Day: Founded by Aethelred King of Mercia in 689, from 1075-1541 this was Chester's Cathedral and Collegiate Church (The Church of the Holy Rood). The Norman nave became a parish church in the time of Elizabeth I. Research is ongoing. Guided tours will be available. Also open is the unique Chapel House, which contains some of the finest medieval roof bosses in the UK.
