East Durham Heritage & Lifeboat Centre
Heritage Open Day: The East Durham Heritage & Lifeboat Centre houses the restored George Elmy that served as lifeboat from 1950 until it was tragically wrecked on the 17th of November 1962. Visitors will be able to get a close up view to help them appreciate how the brave crew went to sea to rescue those in peril. There will be a display of photographs and artefacts showing the development and Industrial, Maritime and Social heritage of Seaham from the early 1800's to the present day.
