Sherburn Hospital Gardens and Chapel

Heritage Open Day: A chance to see this attractive ensemble of Grade II* and II listed stone buildings set around a grass court in fine gardens. Originally a medieval leper house, which was founded by Bishop Hugh le Puisez (Pudsey) in AD1181. The charity now operates a care facility for elderly residents, together with a small number of units of sheltered housing. A short history of the charity is available in booklet form at £1.00.
